Tips from Tonia August 2024

Since I am in huge college mode with the twins this August, I wanted to think of something useful to help everyone get organized for this month. I love using August as a time to get organized in the office, and if you’re feeling overwhelmed in yours, I would suggest using these helpful tips. I recently worked with a client in the office, and I thought, huh, this would be a great time to do some tips for those who get overwhelmed easy!

  1. Declutter Your Space: Start by decluttering your desk and office area. Remove anything that doesn’t serve an immediate purpose or doesn’t contribute to your productivity.
  2. Prioritize Tasks: Create a list of tasks that need to be completed and prioritize them based on urgency and importance. Use tools like to-do lists or task management apps to keep track.
  3. Establish a Filing System: Setup a filing system for documents, both physical and digital. Use labeled folders or folders on your computer to store important information for easy retrieval.
  4. Create Zones: Organize your office into different zones based on activities (e.g., work area, reference materials, supplies). This helps you maintain focus and find what you need quickly.
  5. Schedule Regular Cleaning and Organizing Sessions: Dedicate time each week or month to tidying up your office space. This prevents clutter from building up and keeps your workspace organized. Mine is on Sundays so I can get ready for the work week!
  6. Use Storage Solutions: Invest in storage solutions such as shelves, cabinets, or drawer organizers to keep everything in its place. This reduces visual clutter and makes it easier to find things.
  7. Digital Organization: Organize your computer files into folders with clear names and structures. Regularly clean up your desktop and delete unnecessary files to keep your digital space tidy.
  8. Set Boundaries and Systems: Establish systems for incoming tasks, emails, and documents. For example, set specific times to check emails rather than responding to them immediately, and use a task management system to track ongoing projects.

By implementing these tips, you can create a more organized and efficient workspace, reducing feelings of overwhelm and improving your productivity.

Test out these tips this month and let me know how you did! I will be getting ready to move in my sweet twin girls to college. Wish me luck!
