My name is Melanie Faber and I take great pleasure being a part of the Sorted Out team! I have two grown children, and am originally from Canada, having moved to Texas for work. From the time my children were very young, I spent my 21-year corporate career in the very dynamic automotive manufacturing sector – juggling managing my household, their activities, my career, significant amounts of overtime and travel as a single mom. Organization is not only my passion but what got me through some very challenging times in my life.

I started embracing an organized and clutter-free household when I first moved out on my own. I quickly came to embrace the calmness that came when I knew where things went and that my space was easier to clean without clutter. As I had my kids, I enjoyed finding methods of organization that worked with whatever development stages they were in, and as our lives grew busier, I realized how much value it added to our everyday lives, not always having to scramble to find things at the last minute as we rushed out the door. My hobbies are memory-keeping and cardmaking so those alone required me to figure out systems to keep all of my supplies sorted and accessible so that they didn’t take over my space.

I’ve changed my career path because over all else, I want to help people. If I can teach someone to find extra time in their day because the soccer and swimming stuff now live in the basket in the laundry room, plan their meals in a well laid-out pantry, or choose their outfit from an organized closet for work the night before, then that is what fills me up. I’ve come to realize that this is my gift, and gifts are meant to be shared.
