Tips From Tonia – September 2024 Photo

I know it seems like it is still summer in Dallas, however, it’s that time of the year to start putting away all your pool toys, lounge chairs, and get ready for some fall entertainment. Before you know it, the outdoor entertaining weather will be here. Especially if you are a big sports fanatic, get those outdoor entertaining areas ready for some football!

Here are 7 Tips to Help You Get Organized for Outdoor Entertainment in the Fall:

  1. Plan Your Space: Choose a suitable area for your gathering and arrange seating and tables to accommodate your guests comfortably. Consider adding outdoor rugs or blankets for warmth and comfort. I like storage baskets for outdoor blankets, like these.
  2. Weather-Proof Your Setup: Check the weather forecast and be prepared for changes. Have tarps, canopies, or umbrellas ready to protect against rain, and consider portable heaters or fire pits for warmth. I pull my outdoor heater out of the attic after Labor Day. I like to enjoy the cool nights but need a little heater. When it rains, I put it under my patio area for safety.
  3. Seasonal Decor: Use fall-themed decorations like pumpkins, gourds, and colorful leaves to create a cozy atmosphere. String lights or lanterns can add warmth as the days get shorter. I love these ones from Costco!
  4. Grill It Up: Every September, I have my outdoor deep cleaned. All wood-smoking chips replaced and stored in my outdoor kitchen. It’s also a good idea to hire the Backyard Butler to deep clean your outdoor spaces! The outside never gets enough love!
  5. Safety and Lighting: Make sure your outdoor space is well-lit to prevent accidents. Use pathway lights or lanterns to illuminate walkways and steps.
  6. Food and Drinks: Select some outdoor trays/bins for serving snacks for guests and kiddos. It helps to have the fridges stocked up with drinks for guests too! I love this outdoor cooler for entertaining too
  7. Entertainment and Activities: Plan activities suitable for fall, like outdoor games, a bonfire, or a movie night with a projector. Ensure you have all necessary equipment or materials ready for these activities.

Preparing for entertaining outdoors can be fun, just make it easy on yourself as you enter into the cooler months! You can ensure a smooth and enjoyable outdoor gathering in the fall.
